Coastal Resource Inventory Tutorial

Why this Tutorial?

The first step of our coastal resource protection strategy is to conduct an inventory of your coastal resources. After all, you can't protect them if you don't know if and where they exist!! The tutorial illustrates the inventory process and familiarizes the tutored (that's you) with the type of information involved.

What is Included?

At this site, you can learn about the various data layers that we offer as a simple but effective coastal resource inventory. The maps include information on land cover, water resources, and, of course, coastal habitat areas.

Each data type comprises a "stop" on the tutorial tour, which provides some general information on what the data is, and why it's important. Each stop also has an example of what the data looks like at the town level.

How to use:

If you are using this site for the first time, we recommend that you take it "by the numbers," but since we are anarchists ourselves, the site allows you to skip around if you want. If you're a repeat user, feel free to jump to any category you need. To get started, use the navigation on the left and click on a numbered data family.

This site will take you through nine data types, all of which can be explored and printed on our Mapping Site.
