Vegetated Treatment/Infiltration | Turf Plots

The Master Gardeners Program has public service as a requirement of its participants. Master Gardeners are working to incorporate various types of plantings in order to demonstrate the utilization of: native species, edible plants, shade plants, low water plants and road side (salt, sand tolerant) plants.

Vegetated/Infiltration
Traditionally, vegetated islands are designed as raised beds. The goal of this project is to sink the island, vegetate it and direct storm water to it both for infiltration and renovation.

Turf Plots

Turf PlotsTo avoid a heavy maintenance lawn it is important to select turf that will thrive at the particular location. Various types of grasses will be demonstrated that grow under different conditions including: shade, sun, wet, dry, salty. We will also highlight grasses that are low and no mow varieties.
